A French Macaron Birthday Card with Free Macaron Digi

Here we are the first of the month and you might have noticed this is not my monthly Digi Stamp Diva post. For various and sundry reasons, I've decided to discontinue those. So...how about a little freebie sweetness instead? A macaron birthday card!

Macarons seem to be all the rage the last few years. Variations have been popular in France for centuries, but they seem to have gone the way of globalization and industrialized versions can now be found just about anywhere. I like them, don't get me wrong, but personally, I find them way overpriced for what they are. And just by the by here, read your ingredient list before purchasing, a real macaron does not have wheat flour (they're made with ground almonds) and many – even some of the most expensive French brands and tourist favorites – have E type and other additives.

The digi on this card is a Jane's Doodles freebie. The patterned paper is of the Aldi's Max Bringmann variety. The sentiment was created with Giddyup font and translated means 'A little festive air...' that inside continues with '...just for you! Happy Birthday!'. In France macarons are something special, especially around the holidays or for gift giving, hence the digi ties in with the festive sentiment. It doesn't come across quite the same in English. The design for this card is one I used on this Christmas card and works very well these dies.

  1. These so good enough to eat right off the card! I used to leave close to a genuine French bakery; the Macarons and fresh Bread were my absolute fav! Thanks for joining us at Pammie's Inky Pinkies and Best of Luck in the Draw! Donna, DT

    1. Ah, thanks Jan. I'll still try and feature new digi artists, just not in entire posts devoted to them.
