I'm playing along with
Retro Sketch #10 today. Isn't it wonderful how it seems your creativity has a mind of its own? I started this card with no idea other than wanting to use, for the first time, this
Aladine dragonfly stamp. Then, I remembered I had some delightful insect illustrations in an old German book from 1882. I dug out the book, found the illustration I wanted, and scanned it. I decided to build a theme around the dragonfly. The illustration reminded me of the lush, green
marais (swamp) near our home (yes, there are swamps in France too) so I knew the paper
had to be green. I printed the illustration out on a retired Anna Griffin paper. The small background paper is Toga's Mahé paper in Lin that I stamped with a music image by Aladine. The main light green background is Mahé in Vert Amande that I embossed with a dragonfly plate through my Happycut machine. The dragonfly brads are by
Stamperia. The 'zen' sentiment is from
Artemio. I lightly distressed the edges of the paper – more swamp-y like that – and tied some simple black beading cord around the illustration. The cardstock is
G. Lalo.
In French, when you tell someone to
'Restez zen', it means to stay calm, tranquil. This card seems appropriate to the spirit of that.
What a stunning card, the papers and embelishments are wonderful :)
