Vintage Geneva, Switzerland trolleys

Monsieur Hubby and I were in the big city yesterday. The big city for us being Geneva, Switzerland. The city was celebrating 150 years of public transportation Saturday. They don't have underground metros in Geneva, they have above ground trams (trolleys). They had taken out several old museum model (literally) trams and were actually running them on the lines. All eras were represented. They had the oldest model (originally steam powered) to models from the 20's or so, up to modern designs. They had uniformed conductors helping people on and off, they even tooted the horns coming and going. It was really something. And best of all . . . rides were free!

All aboard!

You can't see from the outside, but inside they're so pretty – all polished wood – no plastic.

I can't imagine what it must have been like to ride this steam model to work everyday.
