1909 Zietung Vintage Illustrated News Magazine

I've mentioned before that I have quite an ephemera collection. In fact, I have so much that at times I forget what I have. I go and pick something up that I haven't seen in a while and I'm impressed all over again, like this one.

This is one of fifteen semi-annual reviews I have of old German illustrated weekly magazines. They are HUGE books, 40 cm by 30 cm and over 1,000 pages. Each book contains six months of weeklies. The reviews I have range from the years 1905 to 1911. I've never seen these anywhere else in this format. I see them for sell in the flea markets one week at a time, but never bound like this.

They are so interesting. It's something to see pictures of Thomas Edison, or Theodore Roosevelt, and think that when these were published they were not historical figures, but current figures of the day.  It's just a shame I don't read German.

And of course the clothing styles are breathtaking.
