It's designed to help mushroom hunters find the safest mushrooms to eat (you have to be careful, eating the wrong type of mushrooms can be fatal). The colors are amazing! It unfolds like a map and inside are 23 varieties of edible mushrooms. It tells you where to find them, how to prepare them and even gives you a recipe.
It says here that the Trumpette des Morts is especially good in an omelette. Although its name isn't one to inspire confidence (translated it means 'Trumpet of death') they are very tasty.
There's even a warning page – ATTENTION ! – it says, searching out rare mushrooms should be left to men of science. And it goes on to warn you of the inherent dangers involved in eating the wrong type.
Since I prefer to buy my mushrooms at the market, I've found another use for the chart . . . a card! I made this card for this week's sketch challenge at Passion Cartes Créatif, a French card making magazine I like. In case you're wondering how to say Happy Fall in French it's 'Joyeux Automne' (I printed out the sentiment on the computer). Although, that's not normally a sentiment you'd see here in France. My French version of this post is here.
