Little Red Robin Christmas card—Christmas cards in France

Slowly but surely, I'm getting there. I've got all my Christmas cards going States side in the mail (I think anyway . . .have I forgotten anyone?). Now, it's just for the French addresses, but I'm not overly worried about those. If they're a little late it's no big deal.

In France many people send greeting cards—cartes de voeux—that are less specifically Christmas than our Anglo-Saxon ones. These cards cover all the Holiday season, especially the New Year. In sending your cartes de voeux (voeux means 'wishes'), you normally say you are envoyant vos meilleurs vœux—sending your best wishes. In fact, many people send cards just for the New Year and not Christmas, sent to arrive after January 1st, not before. Hence, if I'm late for me, no one here will think I am.  

This little red robin card though, is all Christmas. It's for my mother. She has a thing for birds. 

I have received some adorable papers and images with my magazine subscriptions this year. This card proves just how nice they are! In fact, I haven't bought any Christmas paper at all this year. The images and paper are from Creative Cardmaking and Cardmaking and Papercraft magazines. For those of you in the States, these are British magazines. 

These tiny little ribbons dress it up, but keep it flat enough to mail easily.

It has a kind of vintage feel to it, doesn't it?! I was rather pleased with how it turned out.
