Inkspirational Challenge #13, Inspired by Stamping and vintage French paper goodies

Inkspriational challenge #13 this week and the last week of Inspired by Stamping's month long sponsorship. It's been such a pleasure playing along with Inkspirational's own talented team.

I followed this week's sketch to create a birthday card for my non-English speaking Father-in-law. I used Inspired by Stamping sets French Boutique and Paris plus some French vintage paper.

In my opinion this is one of IBS stamps' best qualities—they are perfect to use with vintage ephemera.

My card has a little story behind it. My cousin from the States was visiting last week and we decided to take him to Lyon—France's 3rd largest city and one of my favorite places to visit.

We were touring the old town when we came across Les Ateliers de Marinette—vintage heaven. I was talking with the young owner and he's started a website geared towards scrapbooking—Scrapvintage. He even ships internationally! If you're looking for authentic, unique French paper ephemera, this is the place. This card is made with paper purchased there. This 1951 Bon Marché catalog refused to leave the store without me.

I used a page from the men's section for my card. I liked the one with the beret.

I bought a few of these old school copy books. I adore the covers. I plan to use the covers separately from the pages inside.

Old paper like this has a patina even Tim Holtz can't replicate. I took several photos of the shop. I'm planning to do another post on it later to show you more.
