Meilleurs Voeux ! Happy New Year! Masculine New Year's card
Tuesday, December 31, 2013
J'aimerais souhaiter à tous mes lecteurs mes meilleurs voeux, pour une nouvelle année 2014 remplie de bonheur et de santé !
My best wishes to everyone, for a New Year 2014 filled with good health and happiness!
I created this card for a male friend of ours to wish him a Happy New Year. As he's a francophone, I used the traditional French sentiment Meilleurs Voeux. You can use Meilleurs Voeux for all the holiday season (rather like "Season's Greeetings"), but it is most often said around the New Year. In France, you don't really wish someone a "Happy New Year" until after the new year has arrived. New Year cards go out right around/after the New Year and many people opt for New Year cards over Christmas cards. I deliberately avoided traditional Holiday colors and images on this card, I was ready for a change.
This started out following this week's Mojo Monday's sketch. But, a longer sentiment across the top just didn't look right with the image I'd chosen to use. I had to improvise and went with another square for the sentiment. The central image is a digital stamp I've made, based on an image taken from an old 1898 German newspaper.
And here's the sketch:
Material
Paper—cardstock, kraft, The Paper Studio Glasses, 'Staches, & Ties paper pack
Digital Stamp—my own The Photographer
Dies—Die-namics squares, rectangles
Embellishments—pearls, ribbon

Wonderful!! card. And it is fun to hear the information about your French traditional greeting. Thank you for sharing!

I don't know how I missed this card earlier this week. Super paper and colors with the image.
