Vintage look Christmas gift tags tutorial with Deep Red Stamps Holiday Tickets and Craft Hoarders Anonymous challenge #11

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #11 is Tag, You're It. I decided this gift tag tutorial featuring Holiday Tickets by Deep Red Stamps is just the ticket (or should I say tag?). If you're new to masking this is a great little introduction on how to do stamp masking as well. The above is the "neutral" version of the tag and these below are a variation with color. Since I like to wrap my gifts in kraft paper these neutral ones will go perfect.

I bought several packs of these tags reduced to almost nothing (thinking ahead for Christmas), but noticed when I opened the packs several were not in good shape. Some had rust stains from the metal eyelets and were a bit rumpled, in other words perfect! This is the back of the tag.

Tutorial (please see end of tutorial for supply list).

Step 1—Distress the edges and backs of tags. Do several tags at once to save time. Age tags with spot or stain stamps.

Step 2—Stamp ticket image on post it note to create a mask. Fussy cut the ticket.

Step 3—Stamp ticket image on front of tag and speed dry with a heat gun.

Step 4—Cover the ticket image with mask you made in Step 2 and stamp a background stamp over the entire tag. Remove the mask. Do all the tags you want and speed dry with a heat gun.

Step 5—Stamp tag backs with "To" and "From" stamps.

Step 6—Stamp a ruler or other trim type stamp on kraft paper and fussy cut.

Step 7—Glue trim, flowers and pearls to tag fronts. Attach twine.

These tags also work great on wine bottles and flower bouquets.

  11. What an homage to "less is more". Your tags are perfection. Those fabulous focal images get their day in the sun, and the tape measure and "matching" flower are the perfect supporting players. Looks oh so simple, until you try to make something this chic. Thanks for sharing your process!
