Saturday was a beautiful day here. We decided to go to the Carouge Saturday market in Geneva. Carouge is my favorite Geneva neighborhood. In addition to the market it has lots of little boutiques (my favorite hat shop among them), art galleries and restaurants.
It's small as markets go, but it has wonderful vendors and is prettily located under the trees in the neighborhood center.
This market's focus is food, with a fine selection of fruits and vegetables.
Mushrooms are in season now. I stood near this stand and just breathed in the odor. I love wild mushrooms. We bought a selection and had them for dinner Sunday night.
There's a feast for the eyes as well as the palate; these flowers were stunning.
Say cheese! You can't be in a Swiss market and NOT have cheese.
Pumpkins come sliced so you needn't buy the whole thing.
Some displays are so pretty, you can't bear to disturb them.
Cheese, sausage, bread...everything you need for a picnic is right here.
We're starting to get American varieties of squash now; when I first moved here you never saw them.
There are numerous apple orchards on the outskirts of Geneva; this juice is fresh pressed.
They clean up quick; by 16:00 (4:00 p.m.) you can't even tell the market was there!
I love European markets.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I wanted to be there with you.
bisous

Très beaux tous ces produits, ça donne envie!! De mon coté, je suis allée dimanche au marché de Cabourg (Normandie), avec un week end très ensoleillé le marché était très vivant!
