Talk Turkey 2 Me – a Thanksgiving card colored with Caran d'Ache Neocolor II water soluble wax pastels
Thursday, November 12, 2015
The digital stamps on this card – both image and sentiment – are from Whimsie Doodles, Turkey Split and Turkey Talk. The digital paper is from Snap Click Design and is Echo Park Hybrids Story of Fall paper pack #1.
Snap Click Design is a great site if you don't have easy access to craft stores and/or prefer digital. Thanks to them I can easily and quickly buy in digital form from my favorite scrapbooking suppliers – like Echo Park, BasicGrey and Cosmo Cricket. If you're not familiar with Snap Click Design, I highly suggest visiting them on a Wednesday for their $1 One Buck Wednesday specials. The paper pack used on this card retails for $3.99, but I purchased it on a recent One Buck Wednesday for $1! Fourteen papers for a $1 – you just can't beat that! The calendar is also from Snap Click Design and is Jenni Bowlin Studio Vintage Calendars – another previous $1 Wednesday special.
You might notice my coloring looks a bit different. I used for only the second time Caran D'Ache Neocolor II water soluble wax pastels to color the turkey (my first attempt was a Saint Patrick's day card earlier this year). I like the softer look and they blend great; it's amazing how they change color with the addition of water. I used a Pentel Aquash pen brush to apply the color, simply touching it to the pastel tip and then applying the color (if you've never used one of these water pen brushes, I highly recommend them, super easy to use and great for travel). I want to find the time to experiment with these pastels more; I can see their potential. They would work great for backgrounds and special effects. I've been doing a bit of research on the net and see they're very popular with art journalers. There's a very good video on the Caran d'Ache site on how to use them.

Fun sentiment! Fab coloring of the cute turkey. I hadn't heard of those pastels before.
ReplyDeleteJolie carte Shani ! Ton dindon est magnifique ! J'aime beaucoup colorier avec les crayons Neocolor, je les utilise très souvent avec les tampons, c'en revanche je n'ai pas réussi avec les images digitales, je fais baver l'encre de l'imprimante..
