What does Geneva, Switzerland look like late on a sunny, autumn afternoon

Geneva is a very pretty city and it is a pleasure living so near it. When we talk about "going in to town", Geneva is what we mean. Today, my husband and I decided to go for a walk en ville. All the shops are closed on Sunday in Geneva, just some restaurants and cafés are open. That's okay with us, it's calmer that way. We walked around the lake – Geneva hugs the eponymously named Lake Geneva (Lac Leman in France) – and up into the old town (the vieille ville).

These yellow lake boats are part of the public transportation system and run like buses from one side of the lake to the other.

Outdoor cafés aren't just for summer on the Place de Bourg de Four. See the purple throws on the left? The café provides those to patrons who feel a bit chilly (i.e. women).

Roasted chestnut stands start to appear this time of year and as the line proves their wares are yummy! On a cold day the smell is heavenly.
