Banksy Claus Graffiti Christmas Card

Sometimes the simplest cards can be the most pleasing, at least to me anyway. This Banksy Claus Christmas card is just such a one. It doesn't have much in the way of embellishment, and there's only one patterned paper (a rarity for me) and yet...I really like it. In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's my favorite Christmas card of the year thus far.

If you look at the Dr. Digi's Banksy Claus stamp, you'll see that there is no line defining the wall from the ground. I think to have depth, it does need that line. I took a ruler and added it in with a 0.3 micro-fineliner pen. To give the wall the rough texture of cement, I dotted it with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator blender marker.

Could this Paper Addicts Happy Holidays paper be any more perfect for the stamp? Nope, and the reason why I didn't think it needed much embellishment. I used Tim Holtz Sizzix Drip Edge die and a little ribbon to dress it up. I think this die was made for this card. I've had it forever and a day and this is the first time I've used it to represent paint; it made great melting snow on this Polar Bear card and slime on this Halloween card. Unfortunately, it's retired (are you surprised?). Just an aside here – why do they always retire the best dies? If it's a die that sells well and that people like, why discontinue it? Why does everything always have to be new, new, new? I like new, don't get me wrong, but there's something to be said for oldies, but goodies, too.

  3. Where'd you hide the shredder? (; Wonderful card! I agree, it doesn't need any embellies....I agree with the whole new, new, new thing too! The papercraft industry seems to love to churn out new product with glorious abandon. I get that it's gotta be new(ish) to be fresh, but do companies really need new releases every month?? Makes me wonder about the deep pockets of the people they are catering to. (:

    1. I'm with you! Deep pockets and big houses both! I just don't have space for a whole lot more 'stuff'. Which is why I like digital! It doesn't take up physical space.

  5. LOVE this card!!! The paper and die are perfect for the super fun image. Great idea to add the line. Certainly creates depth. I sure can see why it is your favorite Christmas card. btw, it seems quite often that something good is discontinued, retired, closed, etc.
