France's favorite Christmas dessert is a bûche de Noël. Bûche means log, and represents the traditional yule log that was burned to mark the winter solstice. Bûche come in all types, traditional ones that look very much like a decorated log and stylized ones that are such works of art you can hardly bear to eat them. A traditional bûche is a flat cake with frosting, rolled into a cylinder, frosted again, and decorated as shown. There are also frozen ice cream types (my preference). To see this year's most beautiful bûches, check out Cosmopolitan France's slideshow Les meilleures bûches de Noël 2020 qui nous font saliver (the best 2020 Christmas logs that make our mouths water).
This card for my father-in-law, shows a traditional bûche – une délicieuse bûche – free coloring image from Hugo L'Escargot.
Paper is Craft Sensations Christmas Warm Style design pad. Embellishments are ribbon and enamel dots. The Meilleures Voeux – best wishes – sentiment (standard greeting on the majority of French Christmas/New Year cards) was created with Angelface font.

That looks so yummy! Such a delightful holiday image, I adore those sweet little characters. You can get bûche de Noël here....but all I've seen are the boxed mass produced versions, and they don't look very appetizing. Maybe I'll try to make one sometime. (:
ReplyDeleteYour coloring is beautiful - rich, warm and yummy! Sounds similar to our regular ol' swiss rolls but not as fancy as they do in France!
ReplyDeleteWonderful card and beautiful colourign. Thanks you for joining with us at Digi Choosday Crafting challenge. Good luck with your entry
