Mice & Cheese Birthday Card With Free Digital Stamp Mice

I'm challenging myself to incorporate unused craft supplies (i.e. new/forgot I had/hadn't got around to it yet) in my projects . The cheese die on this birthday card going to my aunt is one such. Purchased last year on Amazon with a Christmas gift certificate, it would fall in the 'new' category.

Other unused digital material on this card is of the 'forgot-I-had' variety; mice courtesy of  the 2018 #157 issue of Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine's digital download freebie and sentiment sheet from the February 2020 issue #202. You do have to create an account with SC&P to download, but their wonderful freebies are definitely worth it.

When I fussy cut the flower bearing mouse, I was obliged to cut off her tail. A tail prosthesis was created with elastic beading cord (this also works for bunny whiskers).

To adhere the cheese die-cut, I tried this add depth without foam tape upcycle idea from Beccy's Place Hot Tip Tuesday, cutting a 'backing' die-cut with packaging material (destined for the recycle bin) and gluing the yellow cardstock die-cut on top...works perfectly!

Supply List
Paper – cardstock, digital patterned paper
Digital stamps – Simply Cards & Papercraft freebies
Dies – no-brand cheese die
Embellishments – elastic beading cord
Spectrum Noir Illustrator alcohol ink markers
Art-n-Fly white pen

  1. This card is outstanding! I can't get over your coloring and I laughed at your prosthetic tail! Brilliant idea! However,I am so bummed as this card doesn't follow our guidelines at Seize the Birthday! I sure hope this won't deter you from joining us again. You do lovely work! Take care!

    1. Oops...I had to go over and check Seize the Birthday guidelines. I'm guessing it's because I linked up with more than 4 challenges? Thanks for such a nice comment though and I've duly noted for next time.

  4. Wow! Love this card. The colours, the checkered background, the Swiss cheese, the mice (including the tail), beautifully put together. Genius idea to add depth to your card by recycling at the same time. Thank you for sharing your wonderful card with us at Krafty Chicks Challenge.

  5. A tail prosthesis, hahahah! Completely adorable and love the technique of adding dimension. What do you think of using an embossing folder on the "cheese" for some extra, extra dimension :)

    1. I think the idea of using an embossing folder to add texture to the cheese diecut is an excellent idea, Michelle!!! Hmmm...a looksee at my embossing folders is required.
