I was pleased with how much my husband liked his Valentine's Day card this year. He said it reminded him of a scene from a Georges Méliès film. If you're not familiar with Georges Méliès, he was a French illusionist and early silent film industry pioneer, known for his elaborate sets.
This DoCrafts Papermania Victorian Valentine kit (sigh...how I miss DoCrafts!) is an outlet shop find from long, long ago; I decided it was time to make it up.
These kits are fairly easy to do if you follow each step, although this one was more complex than some others I've made, as it includes a shadow box on the front of the card. It's also a bigger card than I habitually make (hence the window ledge photo instead of my light box).
Applying all the little 3D foam pads to the back of each layer is the most time consuming part. I wanted a 1mm thickness and these little ones were all I had on hand. Normally I do my own takes on the design (like these 3D bright floral and guy suit-able birthday cards), but this time I pretty much stuck to the instructions.
