French Snail Masculine Birthday Card & LRW #695

My make for this week's LRW Frenchified theme (chosen by yours truly) is this masculine birthday card. I went with a snail (escargot) digi from the now defunct Imagine That digital stamps and dressed him up with some PNG birthday paraphernalia from Prettygrafik's Birthday Stamps. Just an aside here, but I find it interesting that to this day one of my most looked at blog posts is not a card, but this 2014 one on how to eat snails.

My punny sentiment says 'Nous nous dépêchons...' (We are hurrying...) from a snail that can't (hurry that is) on the front of the card, paired with '...de te souhaiter un joyeux anniversaire !' (...to wish you a Happy Birthday!) inside. A similar sentiment was used on this French snail Christmas card

Paper is Craft Sensations Soft & Colorful Basics and Decotime Textured patterns Jungle Fever paper pads. I picked these up at the new Action store that opened close to us. They're a Dutch discount chain with a great craft section (even cutting dies) at very reasonable prices (the Colorful Basics pad was only €1.16). I'm still debating whether this is a good or bad thing.

Jennifer Lynne font was used for the sentiment. Wooden stars (a recent after Christmas sale-bin find) and my trusty ric-rac die dress it up.

Come link up your Frenchified projects with us this week and check out what the other girlfriends have created. A bientôt !

  1. C'est manifique! Yep, that's the extent of my Francais. Loving the sentiment with this image - very cute! Fabulous colouring too. I'd say any store that sold discounted crafty things is a store I'd want close to me. (:

  3. Très bien fait (and that is thanks to google). Darling little snail (he looks a bit like the ones in my yard that eat my plants and upset me), so beautifully colored. I think I would rather see them in cooked in garlic and butter at my favorite steakhouse.

  4. First of all, I just LOVED this fun idea for a challenge, Shani! I used to be bilingual (English/French) as a child but have lost so much of my French. It was a delight to see all the Frenchified projects this week though!

Your little snail card is adorable! The muted tones are fabulous and the papers just perfect - especially at that steal of a price!

My youngest loves escargots... Me, not so much!
