Back in 2016 I did a 'This Bud's for You' one layer card card with a digi colored on kraft paper. I was pleased with how the digi looked on kraft and I really don't know why it took me so long to color on kraft again, but it did – just until this February DJ birthday card.
Resolved not to wait so long next time, I whipped up this masculine birthday card for my stash. The disparate digis – cattails, lily pad, flies, and frog – are PNG images from Prettygrafik's frog pond stamp set. I played around with them until I had a final layered image I liked (don't know what the difference is between PNG and JPG files? see this 'What is a PNG Digital Stamp File...' tutorial). I did a couple of test runs through my printer to make sure I had the placement right and once I did printed it out on kraft to color. The sentiment was created with Grinched font. Some twine tied on the side with a little frog charm dress it up.
And since I haven't done one in a while, how about a crafty tip?
*Crafty tip – Twine bows can be bad about coming untied. To prevent this, I use a toothpick to apply a little bit of Aleene's Tacky Glue to the knot itself and behind it. Although this glue looks white at first, it does dry clear (for this tip, you need to be sure your glue dries clear!). This keeps the bow tied and it stays where you want it. If I'm using a charm, I also put a little bit of glue on the backside of the charm, adhering it to the paper, that way the charm doesn't flop around and stays in a visible position.
Paper – kraft cardstock
Digital stamps – Prettygrafik Frog Pond
Embellishments – twine, frog charm
Font – Grinched
Caran d'Ache Luminance 901 pencils
Art-n-Fly white pen
