All Purpose Card with Vera Lane Studio Fowl Dee Digi & Freebie Coffee Shop Vintage Quilt Digital Paper

All purpose Vera Lane Studio Fowl Dee digi card with free Vintage Quilt digital paper, colored with Luminance pencils, by Paperesse.

This snarky hen is a digi from Vera Lane Studio's Fowl Dee digi stamp set. There are six digis in the set (3 JPG, 3 PNG) and two sentiments. The Dee character is the star of this digi set show, but her supporting cast chickens are funny all on their own as this one I've used here shows. I don't have many chicken creations on Paperesse, but I really like this French poulet thank you card from my long ago vintage period (has my style changed, or what?!).

Speaking of hens, you might be interested to know that poule or poulette, French words for hen, are familiar ways to address a woman or young girl (in the case of poulette) in the way you'd use toots, sweetheart, or babe in English. Having said that, it can be construed as sexist and you'd never want to use this with someone you don't know well. My husband can call me ma poule and I don't mind, but I don't want a stranger doing it. Ca roule ma poule is a common phrase meaning everything's going okay or if you put a question mark on it, you're asking if  everything's okay – ça roule ma poule ? And since we're having a French lesson here, if you see a space before a question mark in French it's not a typo, that's how it's done.

Now back to the card...when you think of hens, you think of the country, or at least I do, so I thought this freebie Coffee Shop Antique Quilts digital paper was the perfect match for my funny little hen.

I like the two sentiments in the set, but chose to write my own using the quirky Daisy's Delights font. The paper is so pretty I didn't think much was needed in the way of embellishments, but I added a bronze crinkled paper strip and matching metal dots to give a bit of bling.
