Di's Digi Stamps Hedgehog Snowy Post Holiday Card & Some Hedgehog Love

How's your Christmas card stash coming along? Are you one of those cardmakers who prepare in advance? Or do you wait 'til the last minute? Like say November. I have been both in the past, but this year I told myself I was going to make one every week starting in January. Now...ask me if I have. Have I? Nope (sigh). And then when I did post one a few weeks back, some troll left a comment saying 'wasn't I a little bit late to be posting that?' Obviously, not a cardmaker. If you read this post Mr. Troll, please note that I am early, not late.

Today's holiday make features Di's Digi Stamps Hedgehogs Snowy Post digi (retired). Paper is more from the EMF Origami Christmas pad I bought in Bale in December. I've dressed the card up with a no-brand border strip highlighted with pearls. The sentiment was created with Candy Round BTN font. If you like hedgehogs, Di has several cute stamps featuring them (e.g. this egg-ceptional Easter card).

I think hedgehogs are the cutest little things (in French they're called hérisson) and we have some in the woods around our home. I wasn't familiar with them before I moved to France. Where I'm from (Arkansas & Oklahoma) we see more porcupines which are similar, but not what I'd call cute. Unfortunately, the French hedgehog population has declined by more than two-thirds in the last twenty years and they are now a protected species, with some level of protection in almost all European countries.

And just another hedgehog related tidbit, but one of my favorite books is The Elegance of the Hedgehog by French author Muriel Barbery. No, it's not about hedgehogs per say, but it's a great Paris based read and since this post offers me a tie-in to recommend it, I will.

  3. Omg, some people need to find a hobby other than posting inane comments on the internet. What's it to them when or what you post on your own blog? *eye roll* Wonderful card! Such a cute image and the papers are so pretty. Thanks for sharing the facts about hedgehogs, made me Google to confirm that we don't have them here in Canada. (Not wild ones anyway.) Wish we did, they're adorable!
