Happy Summer Card with Vera Lane Studio Beach Love & Suns Digi Sets

Happy Summer card with Vera Lane Studio Beach Love & Suns digi set digis, colored with Caran d'Ache Luminance pencils, by Paperesse.

Happy 4th of July to Americans everywhere, enjoy your day! I daresay, it won't be my best. My husband and I took a trip last week and I brought back Covid as a souvenir. Which, as far as I know, is the first time I've had it. It's the first time I've tested positive anyway.

This Happy Summer card features digis and a sentiment from Vera Lane Studio's Beach Love and Suns digi sets. I love the sentiment's clever play on words – not 'C'est la vie' (the common French expression 'That's life'), but 'Sea la vie'. I created the beach scene using PNG images from both sets. Since this card was sent to an expat American friend I added an additional 'Happy 4th of July' sentiment inside.

The paper is from Ciao Bella's Under Water Love paper pack. Ciao Bella is an Italian brand and their papers are gorgeous (designed and printed in Italy)! I don't come across them often and they're expensive to order online, so you can imagine how pleased I was when my favorite outlet shop had this pack for €1.99. Italians make great paper. If you're visiting Italy and want something light to take home, look for Italian handmade wood block paper. To this day my 2012 post on Italy's oldest paper shop in Venice is my most viewed blog post – 11,448 views and counting!

I didn't think this card needed much in the way of embellishment. I made a couple of star fish die cuts and topped it all off with Midnight Blue Nuvo Crystal Drops. I was pleased with how this card turned out, so much so I almost kept it for myself.
